Christmas is the time where we celebrate the birthday
of Jesus. The time where us, Filipinos, gather together with our friends and
families to celebrate this special occasion. The Philippine is known to
celebrate the world’s longest Christmas season. Every Filipinos has its own different
ways to celebrate Christmas. Even in the Midst of Pandemic, Filipinos can still
find a way to make Christmas more special and joyful. For us Ilocanos, we also
celebrate Christmas in our own different ways.
I will
say that Vigan is one of the best destinations to visit for Christmas Season. It
is because of its colorful and gorgeous decorations and also its historical
looks. In Vigan you can visit many places like the Capitol, Calle Crisologo,
the Cathedral, the dancing fountain that can be found at the front of the
cathedral and many more. You can also ride kalesa to tour some of these places
and maybe buy some souvenirs. A lot of tourists visits Vigan when it is the
Christmas Season, unfortunately now that we are on a Pandemic, tourists become
fewer than before. But that doesn’t stop Ilocanos to Celebrate Christmas and
make it as merry as it is. The first thing that you will see when you enter
Vigan is the gigantic decoration on the Ilocos Sur capitol, every year they put
up some decorations on it and people come to take pictures with their friends
and families.
In Calle Crisologo, you will see the streets filled with Christmas
Lights and same with the dancing fountain. We also do Simbang Gabi or the Misa
De Gallo just like every Filipinos do. Families gather and eat noche Buena and
celebrate Christmas filled with joy and love.

We maybe
in a Pandemic right now, but Filipinos will always find a way to make Christmas
enjoyable and memorable. We Filipinos can prove that no matter what happens,
the Christmas spirit will never go away. I hope that everyone had a great Christmas!
